The choice of decking for your Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) project is just as important as the structure and design of the product itself. With Wagners Composite Fibre Technologies (CFT) as your supplier, right here in Australia, there are plenty of options to choose from. Decking can be selected depending on the local environment, intended use and overall desired aesthetics. All decking options at Wagners CFT are anti-fire, anti-corrosion, anti-aging, anti-slip and even non-conductive. Our FRP decking is relatively maintenance free, achieving a long service life. It is easy to install because it is light in weight, yet still has a high loaded strength. To top it off, decking is available in a range of sizes and various colours.

Types of FRP Decking

All types of FRP panels are designed for low slip potential as per AS 4586. Wagners CFT provide the following FRP mesh and FRP grating solutions:

FRP Micro-Mesh | FRP Mini-Mesh | FRP Treddeck | FRP Covertop

Our complete range of FRP grating can replace traditional materials in boardwalks, pedestrian bridges or cycleways, providing an anti-slip surface that is safe and has full corrosion resistance. Our FRP grates and FRP stair treads prove to be an ultimate choice in comparison to other materials with their slip resistance and durability.

Benefits of Choosing FRP

  • Durable – with an expected 100-year design life
  • Inert – fully resistant to rot, rust and corrosion
  • Resistant to termites and acid sulfate soils
  • Lightweight, making it safer to handle, transport and install
  • Modular by design so can be assembled off-site and craned or trucked into place saving you onsite time and expenses whilst reducing weather impacts to your project
  • Cost effective – with reduced maintenance and replacement cycles resulting in significant savings over the lifetime of the structure
  • Non-leaching, so will not release harmful substances into the environment making it suitable for areas of high conservation value
  • Plus structures made from FRP contribute to decarbonisation in construction and reducing global warming through less embodied carbon

Maintenance

Our complete range of FRP products are uniquely suited to withstand the conditions of any environment while providing a durable, long life asset. FRP is a low maintenance material with an expected 100-year design life.

A key benefit of constructing with FRP is to reduce maintenance costs in comparison with steel and timber. This is often expressed as the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of a structure.

What makes FRP the right choice?

At Wagners CFT, we use a pull winding process known as ‘pultrusion’ to create our FRP structural profiles. These sections resemble the geometry and shape of traditional circular and square hollow sections, but they’re made from fibreglass reinforcements and vinyl ester resins.

FRP is an incredible composite material that is stronger than steel and meets all stiffness criteria; with Wagners CFT FRP structural profiles achieving an Elastic Modulus of 40 (E40) which is well above our competitors. And when it comes to strength, our glass ratio is unbeatable – at 76% glass. This makes our pultruded FRP structural profiles one of the world’s strongest.
