Wagners Composite Fibre Technologies (CFT) have designed and manufactured the new Trident Marine Pile from pultruded Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) and coated with a High Density Poly Ethylene (HDPE) outer sleeve. This integral HDPE sleeve over the FRP pile ensures the integrity of the coating is maintained at all times. Our Trident Marine Piles have the same stiffness as equivalent sized timber piles, whilst being a fraction of the weight, giving all the benefits of timber piles with dramatically improved durability. They have also proven beneficial in protecting your water craft from damage as the Trident Marine Piles give more than concrete piles.

Wagners’ FRP marine piling solutions boast a host of other characteristics that lend to the product’s long-term sustainability and decreased maintenance costs over the lifetime of a structure. FRP is not affected by borers (which is the number one destroyer of timber marine structures worldwide) and is non-leaching, making it safe for even the most diverse marine environment. Benefits of Choosing FRP for Marine Piles

  • Durable – with an expected 50-year design life
  • Inert – fully resistant to rot, rust and corrosion in saltwater
  • Resistant to termites and acid sulfate soils
  • Lightweight, making it safer to handle, transport and install
  • Modular by design so can be assembled off-site and craned or trucked into place saving you onsite time and expenses whilst reducing weather impacts to your project
  • Cost effective – with reduced maintenance and replacement cycles resulting in significant savings over the lifetime of the structure
  • Non-leaching, so will not release harmful substances into the environment making it suitable for areas of high conservation value
  • Plus structures made from FRP contribute to decarbonisation in construction and reducing global warming through less embodied carbon

Installation of FRP Marine Piles

Owing to the lightweight nature of FRP, Trident Marine Piles can be installed utilising existing equipment with minimal modifications.

Our Trident Marine Piles are a quarter of the weight of traditional steel piles, providing added safety benefits in installation. There is less risk for installation staff, less wear and tear on equipment, and reduced costs related to transport and storage.

These unique and versatile FRP marine piles can be impact or vibratory driven into the substrate. Due to FRP being naturally light in weight, smaller pile drivers can be used, allowing access in tighter spaces than before. This is especially beneficial when looking to build or install smaller pontoons or jetties.
