Willetts Road pedestrian bridge and cycleway is located in Mackay, Queensland and is constructed from Wagners Composite Fibre Technologies (CFT) Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) structural profiles.

At 24.5-metre long, the single span bridge is part of a greater 34-metre pedestrian boardwalk which is designed to provide pedestrian access during flooding over the Pioneer River; thereby providing key linkages to the city of Mackay’s urban and residential areas and local business and services.

Fibre Reinforced Polymer is the perfect material for this application because it is durable with a 100-year design life, resistant to acid sulfate soils and termites, will not rot, rust or corrode and provides the city of Mackay with significantly reduced ongoing maintenance costs and replacement cycles.  The Willets Road pedestrian bridge and cycleway was installed by Haber Excavations and Plants Whitsundays.
