In January of 2015 Wagners CFT transformed the old and tired timber Wharf at Cooktown into a brand new composite Wharf built for small trucks to load and unload the boats that dock here, and built to take the best that the Cooktown weather can offer. It also proves a great fishing spot for the locals with the locals using it daily to catch some great fish that live in the bay.

Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) is the perfect solution for marine applications because it is:

  • Durable – with a 50-year design life
  • Lightweight – safer to handle, transport and install
  • Inert – will not rot, rust or corrode
  • Resistant – acid sulfate soils and marine borers
  • Compatible with existing installation equipment
  • Great return on investment with reduced ongoing maintenance and replacement costs

Located not far from where Captain Cook beached the Endeavour, Cooktown Wharf is steeped in history.  Known as a great spot to wrangle a Barramundi, Cooktown Wharf plays host to dense shoals of baitfish such as pike and herring in the winter months, using the wharf pylons for protection from the marauding mackerel and barracuda patrolling the deeper water nearby.
