Wagners Composite Fibre Technologies (CFT) was engaged to replace an old timber bridge that had reach the end of its service life at the Carina Bay Reserve for Sutherland Shire Council. Our mandate was to deliver and install the new 13-metre x 1.8-metre Fibre Reinfored Polymer (FRP) bridge as quickly as possible as the bridge was the only access point from the carpark to local residential areas.
The new Wagners Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) bridge was assembled at our Wellcamp facility in Queensland before being trucked to New South Wales ahead of installation. Installation was completed by Sutherlandshire Council and took a short three-hours to install using a Franna Crane. The Franna Crane enabled crews to ‘walk’ the bridge into position and avoid contact with overhead power lines.
Remaining works to connect the bridge to the Carina Bay Reserve carpark and walking trail took an additional week to complete. The customer was extremely happy with the installation phase of the project which was made possible owing to the lightweight and modular nature of FRP. Carina Bay Reserve is a designated dog off-leach and horse park popular with the surrounding community.
