The Mersey River pedestrian bridge, located in the Kejimkujik National Park in Nova Scotia, Canada was successfully supplied and installed by Wagners Composite Fibre Technologies (CFT). The projecte dpresented unique challenges due to limited site access and the requirement of achieving 30-metres in a single span, making this pedestrian bridge the longest Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) bridge in Northern America.
The primary goals of the project were to create a centrepiece for the park revitalization and select a sustainable building material that could withstand the extreme environmental conditions. With more than 10,000 annual visitors to the park, the bridge needed to be visually appealing and harmonise with the important historical site and sensitive ecosystem. Wagners CFT’s design not only met these goals but exceeded expectations, providing an aesthetically pleasing solution.

Supply chain issues posed significant challenges during the project as the bridge required international supply during the COVID-19 pandemic and Kenjimkujik National Park’s remote location added complexities to the logistics.
